Our Story

Like every other journey, ours has a story – a beautiful story of appreciation and thanks to God.

It all started when God impressed in the heart of the Coordinator, Rev. Abraham Felix Turay, to gather young people in the bid to help give their lives direction and meaning. This drive brought about the very first YAYA Fire Festival in 2016.

YAYA (Youth And Young Adults)  Fire Festival is one of the main events of YAYA Fire Inc. In its inception in 2016, the YAYA Fire Festival catered for only young people in Freetown, predominantly the East End of Freetown. With time, the Festival has grown beyond the borders of Sierra Leone to Guinea and Liberia, and potentially to Guinea-Bissau, Equitoral Guinea and The Gambia, had it not been for the COVID-19 pandemic that hit the world in 2020.

In 2020, the festival did not hold because of the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, amidst the preparation, continued lockdowns threw spanner in the works in terms of preparations. However, a Mini YAYA Fire was in the second city in Sierra Leone, Bo City.

YAYA Fire Festival seats an average of between four hundred and five hundred youth and young adults during the two weeks in Freetown.

The vision is growing. The scope is enlarging, though there are more grounds to take. Added to the Festival is “Ablaze Night”. A night of pure worship made in heaven, given unto The King.

In YAYA Fire Inc., young people find a platform where they can discover and polish their gifts in the area of Music, Dance, and Drama, at the house-colour and national level.

For effective administration, YAYA Fire Festival is divided into four house colours – Yellow, White, Blue, Mauve, each with its executive that help in serving the young people, meeting their needs.

A Word From The Coordinator

The Youth and Young Adult organisation codenamed “Yaya Fire” is an interdenominational Christian Organisation designed to create an interactive framework for young people irrespective of their religious beliefs, status, denominational or tribal affiliation.

Over the years, and even in our contemporary world, young people have been perceived and identified with violence, crimes, occultism, cliques and gangsterisms and every other vice that is inimical to a stable and peaceful society.
All of these antisocial behaviours were greeted with an outburst of criticism from adults in various media with little or no constructive road map for a total transformation of the youth.

Responding to the burden in my heart for young people, I have resolved to change the narrative by contributing positively to the development of young people by changing their mindset and giving them a reason for living.

In essence, Yaya Fire Inc. was born out of the desire to help shape the lives of young people who have been negatively influenced.

It also focuses on building the capacity of young people with great potentials, gifts and talents who are unable to discover these precious nuggets which were meant to positively change their communities. Furthermore,
Instilling a sense of Godly principle, solidarity and tolerance among them as they take responsibility in shaping their own destinies. Equipping and inspiring them with relevant information and skills will give them an advantage in both the secular and spiritual arenas.
My focus is:
BUILDING A SOLID FOUNDATION FOR MAXIMUM IMPACT.
